Incorporating their many years of experience in optical storage and file systems, PoINT Software engineers have developed VJB, Virtual Jukebox File System technology. Using proven technologies and reliable standards, files can be written with compliant Write Once attributes on to standard hard disc based RAID systems. Data volumes remain accessible from RAID via a secure read only file system and may not be altered or destroyed. Secondary storage of data volumes on DVD media provides redundancy for off sight storage and disaster recovery.

Jukebox Features, RAID Reliability
PoINT VJB, Virtual Jukebox Software provides an ideal archival storage solution for applications and environments requiring a highly accessible Write Once storage system. VJB provides all of the features and advantages of a standard optical jukebox storage system, without the need for costly robotic mechanisms and media. VJB incorporates PoINT ‘s Dynamic Image Recording Engine, our Patent Pending technology which provides a unique method of writing Data Volumes to industry standard UDF (Universal Disc Format) DVD image files located on standard RAID storage devices. These DVD image files are represented by the Virtual File system as standard Windows folders.

Transparent Access for ANY Application
Data Volume sets are represented as standard network shares which remain accessible from RAID via a secure read only file system and may not be altered or destroyed. Transparent, Write-Once Read Many (WORM) access is provided for any application or client without the need for API interface, client software or alteration of workflow. The Windows mechanisms for sharing and security apply to the Virtual Jukebox File system shares as well.

Compliance, Redundancy, and Disaster Recovery
PoINT VJB technology offers cost-effective data storage and management tools designed to address growing regulatory compliance requirements. Data Volumes written to the RAID system can be mirrored to actual DVD media sets using standard DVD-R drives in order to provide redundancy, off sight storage and disaster recovery. An Off Line database provides complete file system details of all off line media, allowing recovery of individual files and restoration of complete Data Volumes.

Complete File System Management
PoINT VJB provides complete control and management of the file system. An Administration console works transparently with the Windows file system to allow Data Volumes to be managed and shared. Volumes dynamically increase in capacity as needed, and may also be restricted in size if required.

Sophisticated Caching and Migration
A multi level caching mechanism allows files to be transparently migrated from Rewriteable to Write Once volumes based upon conditions such as data age, volume size, or when last modified. An “Attribute Based” utility allows migration to the WORM volume based upon change of file attributes using the standard Windows file system.

Easy Installation and Setup
PoINT VJB software is designed to be installed on any Windows Server NAS Storage system to create a safe, compliant write once storage device. Installation is fast and setup is easy. The User Interface offers a familiar look and feel, and provides menu driven access to all functions.

Low Cost and Expandable
PoINT VJB software has a basic device fee of $2500 which includes support for up to 750GB of Write once storage, and supports up to 2 DVD-R recorder drives for producing redundant DVD media sets. Additional managed capacity can be purchased to allow up to 10TB of WORM storage on a single appliance.
