systems, PoINT Jukebox Manager is installed and configured on our MDI Network
Attached Server/RAID (NAS) system. Optical libraries appear as partitioned, shareable Windows volumes.
Sophisticated caching mechanisms assure that needed data
volumes remain accessible from the RAID system. The system
is fully integrated and tested to provide connectivity to
any optical library model creating an ideal archival
storage solution for applications and environments requiring
a highly accessible write once storage system with unlimited capacities.

MDI’s unique enhancements differentiate the Express Stor in flexibility and reliability. The performance of an Archive Edition NAS is approximately 20% greater than a comparably configured file server due to the operating system being streamlined to support file service as opposed to general purpose applications. Two NAS RAID models are available with base usable RAID capacities from 1 TB to 2 TB, plus expansion to several times the base capacity. Express Stor Compliance Edition models provide scalable solutions for workgroups to enterprise datacenters.
The DISC BD Series offers a range of automated optical media libraries which provide near-line access to data stored on CD, DVD and Blu-ray media. Your data is protected with DISC’s “Touch Less Technology” with the media stored on trays to prevent handling damage. The SmartPack™ continues this touch-less protection when you remove, offline, media and provides a protective case for external management of your media.

A multi level Write caching mechanism allows files to be transparently migrated
from RAID to Write optical media volumes based upon conditions such as data age,
volume size, or when last modified. An “Attribute Based” utility allows migration
to the data based upon change of file attributes using the standard
Windows file system.
Transparent
Access for ANY Application
Data Volume sets are represented as standard network shares which remain accessible
from RAID and Optical disc via a secure read only file system and may not be
altered or destroyed. Transparent, Write-Once Read Many (WORM) access is provided
for any application or client without the need for API interface, client software
or alteration of workflow. The Windows mechanisms for sharing and security
apply to the Virtual Jukebox File system shares as well.

Redundancy, and Disaster Recovery
Express Stor Jukebox Server is cost-effective data storage and management appliance
designed to address growing regulatory compliance requirements by writing data
transparently to Optical media. Data Volumes can optionally be mirrored to
multiple optical media sets in order to provide redundancy, off sight storage
and disaster recovery. An Off Line database provides complete file system details
of all off line media, allowing recovery of individual files and restoration
of complete Data Volumes.

Express Stor Jukebox Server offers complete control and management of the file
system. An Administration console works transparently with the Windows file
system to allow Data Volumes to be managed and shared. Volumes dynamically
increase in capacity as needed, and may also be restricted in size if required.
