 Unified Network Storage

Express Stor Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 Unified Storage Appliances with Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) capability offer enterprise level functionality and cost effective expansion capability at a very attractive cost. Unified Storage provides both NAS and IP-SAN capability in the same system. Available capacity is a "virtual" pool of storage that can be provisioned to support disk volumes for iSCSI LUN's and for file storage. Applications needing block level storage such as SQL and file data for user access can now co-exist on the same storage device.

Software Availability:

All MDI systems come with virus scan software pre-installed. Dual OS Images
are maintained for rapid repair in the event the operating system becomes contaminated.

Single Instance Storage:

(SIS) recovers disk space by reducing the amount of redundant data stored on a server, by identifying identical files, storing a single copy of the file in a central repository and replacing the files with pointers to the file in the SIS common store.

Searching and Indexing:

Indexing service extracts the information from a set of documents and organizes it in a way that makes it quick and easy to access that information through the Search function for computers running Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP.

File and LUN Snapshots:

Through built-in, point-in- time shadow copy technology, the system administrator can use point-in-time shadow copy technologies to make up to 512 snapshots per volume. Users can be enabled to restore accidentally deleted or overwritten files without the need for IT intervention.

File Server Resource Manager:

(FSRM) enables system administrators to understand how storage is being used and to manage the use of their storage by generating storage reports, applying quotas to volumes and folders, and screening files on the server.

Compliance Edition:

An MDI Express Stor which uses advanced software to provide immediate, permanent, write once storage. Folders and shares are created in the normal manner, and the Tiered Archive File System (TAFS) is then applied to these folders, allowing the administrator to specify them as write once volumes. Files written to these folders may be accessed transparently, yet they may not
be modified, renamed or deleted. Optional modules allow archiving data to a variety of media formats.

Backup and Disaster Recovery:

Express Stor solutions can be pre-configured to support a variety of backup and disaster recovery techniques. If your requirements include traditional backup to tape, disk to disk backup, replication to a remote location, or archiving to and restoring from tape or optical media, Express Stor can handle your needs.
